And that\u2019s how Sunday\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/cheesefestival.ca\/grilled-cheese-chowdown\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Grilled Cheese Chowdown <\/a>came to be.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cheeselover.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/chowdown-partner-logos-small-1.jpg\" data-lightbox=\"gal[5290]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-5294\" src=\"https:\/\/cheeselover.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/chowdown-partner-logos-small-1.jpg?w=300\" alt=\"CHOWDOWN partner logos small\" width=\"300\" height=\"167\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cheeselover.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/chowdown-partner-logos-small-1.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/cheeselover.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/chowdown-partner-logos-small-1-300x167.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cheeselover.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/chowdown-partner-logos-small-1-768x427.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>With much thanks to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stonemillbakehouse.com\/\">Stonemill Bakehouse,<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/stirlingcreamery.com\/\">Stirling Creamery<\/a> and these <a href=\"http:\/\/tourism.bayofquinte.ca\/premium\/cheddar-ale-trail-map\/\">Cheddar &amp; Ale Trail <\/a>cheese producers:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a title=\"Black River Cheese\" href=\"http:\/\/www.blackrivercheese.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Black River Cheese<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Empire Cheese\" href=\"http:\/\/www.empirecheese.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Empire Cheese<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Ivanhoe Cheese\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ivanhoecheese.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ivanhoe Cheese<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Wilton Cheese\" href=\"http:\/\/www.wiltoncheese.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Wilton Cheese.\u00a0<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The four chefs are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Norm Aitken, <a title=\"Empire \" href=\"http:\/\/www.empireottawa.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Empire restaurant<\/a>, Ottawa<\/li>\n<li>Eric Brennan, <a title=\"Le Chien Noir\" href=\"http:\/\/www.lechiennoir.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Le Chien Noir Bistro<\/a>, Kingston<\/li>\n<li>Jeff McCourt, <a title=\"Glasgow Glen Farm\" href=\"http:\/\/glasgowglenfarm.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Glasgow Glen Farm<\/a>, Charlottetown<\/li>\n<li>Lili Sullivan, <a title=\"Waupoos Winery\" href=\"http:\/\/www.waupooswinery.com\/gazebo-restaurant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Waupoos Estate Winery<\/a>, Prince Edward County.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Here\u2019s how the showdown leading the Chowdown will unfold, starting at 12 noon Sunday near The County Pavilion right in the middle of the Cheese Festival.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left:30px;\">Picture four support crews doing the prep in the banquet hall and adjacent commercial kitchen, buttering the bread, laying on the cheese slices, getting ready to swing into action. Picture four stations with flat tops set up in the food court area of the Festival. \u00a0At the appointed hour, we fire up the propane, bring the flat tops up to heat, the teams bring out the sandwiches.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left:30px;\">Four chefs step forward, each at one station. The start signal sounds. The chefs swing into action, seeing who can cook 250 grilled-cheese sandwiches the quickest.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left:30px;\">Team members serve the grilled cheese to attendees who find condiments at a dedicated station nearby. Picnic tables are all around for sitting and eating.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left:30px;\">The winning chef has $1,000 donated to the charity of his or her choice.<\/p>\n<p>Chefs will be using Prince Edward County Rye produced by <a title=\"Stonemill Bakehouse\" href=\"http:\/\/www.stonemillbakehouse.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Stonemill Bakehouse<\/a>, pre-sliced at the bakery, and unsalted butter from <a title=\"Stirling Creamery\" href=\"http:\/\/stirlingcreamery.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Stirling Creamery<\/a>, plus Ontario cheddar, of course.<\/p>\n<p>Admission to the Chowdown is included in the ticket for Sunday\u2019s <a title=\"Artisan Cheese and Fine Food Fair\" href=\"http:\/\/cheesefestival.ca\/the-schedule\/cheese-fair-artisan-market\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Artisan Cheese &amp; Fine Food Fair<\/a>.
