{"id":3479,"date":"2012-05-16T21:20:54","date_gmt":"2012-05-17T01:20:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cheeseloverca.wordpress.com\/?p=3479"},"modified":"2012-05-16T21:20:54","modified_gmt":"2012-05-17T01:20:54","slug":"salumi-maker-hosts-artisan-food-festival-saturday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cheeselover.ca\/index.php\/2012\/05\/16\/salumi-maker-hosts-artisan-food-festival-saturday\/","title":{"rendered":"Salumi maker hosts artisan food festival Saturday"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_3485\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3485\" style=\"width: 468px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cheeselover.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/px_seed_sausage_cuts-1.jpg\" data-lightbox=\"gal[3479]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3485\" title=\"px_seed_sausage_cuts\" src=\"https:\/\/cheeselover.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/px_seed_sausage_cuts-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"468\" height=\"311\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cheeselover.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/px_seed_sausage_cuts-1.jpg 800w, https:\/\/cheeselover.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/px_seed_sausage_cuts-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cheeselover.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/px_seed_sausage_cuts-1-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3485\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">It&#8217;s not cheese but the mouth waters at the sight of charcuterie from Seed to Sausage.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Michael McKenzie, owner and chief salumi maker of Seed to Sausage, is one of hundreds of businesses around the world paying tribute to <a href=\"http:\/\/foodrevolutionday.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Food Revolution Day<\/a>, an international movement sponsored by the Jamie Oliver Foundation to inspire change in people\u2019s food habits.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>This Saturday, May 19, McKenzie hosts a food festival in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sharbotlake.com\/map.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sharbot Lake, Ontario<\/a>, featuring hand-crafted artisan salumi and deli meats from his charcuterie, fire-roasted lamb and pork, artisan pizza, local and area artisan cheese, fresh oysters, micro-beer and local wine.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wanted to do something special to mark the opening of our retail operation and what better way than to recognize Food Revolution Day and celebrate the joy of eating wonderful food with your friends, family and those who have helped support us over the last year,\u201d says McKenzie. \u00a0The event runs from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. and will move indoors in the event of rain.<\/p>\n<p>Joining McKenzie are a host of well-known chefs and from Kingston and Ottawa, including Kingston Chef Derek MacGregor of Chien Noir and Chef Stev George of Olivea who will prepare whole roasted lamb and pork. Also in attendance is The Whales Bone Oyster House from Ottawa who will be shucking oysters, Kyle Christofferson, Chef de Cuisine of Brookstreet Ottawa will be running a food truck, St. Amboise microbrewery from Montreal and Sandbanks Winery from Prince Edward County.<\/p>\n<p>Food and beverage prices will range from $5 to $10.
