Petra Cooper (at left) spread the gospel while Ezra Title of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chezvousdining.ca\/\">Chez Vous<\/a> presented double-baked fingerlings made with double-smoked bacon and three Fifth Town cheeses, Cape Vessey, Chevre and Plain Jane.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cheeselover.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/px_cl_ebw_cboutique_afrim_forfar-1.jpg\" data-lightbox=\"gal[1431]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1443\" title=\"px_cl_ebw_cboutique_afrim_forfar\" src=\"https:\/\/cheeselover.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/px_cl_ebw_cboutique_afrim_forfar-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"468\" height=\"611\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cheeselover.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/px_cl_ebw_cboutique_afrim_forfar-1.jpg 700w, https:\/\/cheeselover.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/px_cl_ebw_cboutique_afrim_forfar-1-230x300.jpg 230w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px\" \/><\/a>At the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cheeseboutique.com\/\">Cheese Boutique<\/a> display, Afrim Pristine was kept busy cutting a 10-year-old cheddar that the cheese shop purchased from historic <a href=\"http:\/\/www.canada.com\/ottawacitizen\/news\/bustech\/story.html?id=6940fadd-3350-4697-9d4c-6272660b9206\">Forfar Dairy<\/a> before it churned its last curds in 2008.<\/p>\n<p>But cheese played only a small role in the event overall as some of the best cooks in Ontario showed their mastery of a wide variety of agricultural products from close to home. Among the many stand-outs:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Maple pork bellies, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.splendido.ca\/\">Splendido<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mccmaple.com\/\">McCutcheon&#8217;s Maple Syrup<\/a>;<\/li>\n<li>Bison burgers, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thehealthybutcher.com\/\">The Healthy Butcher<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mountainbison.com\/\">Mountain Lake Bison<\/a>;<\/li>\n<li>Suffolk lamb kabob, <a href=\"http:\/\/allens.to\/\">Allen&#8217;s<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scotchmountainmeats.com\/\">Scotch Mountain Meats<\/a>;<\/li>\n<li>Smoked meat, served fatty, not lean, <a href=\"http:\/\/caplanskys.com\/\">Caplansky&#8217;s Delicatessen<\/a>;<\/li>\n<li>Smoked trout salad, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.redsbistro.com\/\">Reds Bistro<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.savourmuskoka.com\/culinary-artisans-profile.html?urlid=5145\">Milford Bay Trout Farm<\/a>;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Stand-outs in adult beverages:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Meritage Red, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ravinevineyard.com\/\">Ravine Vineyard Estate Winery<\/a>;<\/li>\n<li>Draft cider, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.countycider.com\/\">The County Cider Company<\/a>;<\/li>\n<li>Cranberry wine, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cranberry.ca\/\">Muskoka Lakes Winery<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Here&#8217;s an excellent selection of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spotlighttoronto.com\/site\/index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=article&amp;id=4027:sureshdoss-brickworkspicnic2010&amp;catid=103:cat-writers-sureshdoss&amp;Itemid=225&amp;lang=en\">Suresh Doss photographs<\/a> from the Picnic.
