{"id":1028,"date":"2010-06-17T21:06:22","date_gmt":"2010-06-18T02:06:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cheeseloverca.wordpress.com\/?p=1028"},"modified":"2010-06-17T21:06:22","modified_gmt":"2010-06-18T02:06:22","slug":"good-cheese-hunting-day-14-arrival-in-warwick","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cheeselover.ca\/index.php\/2010\/06\/17\/good-cheese-hunting-day-14-arrival-in-warwick\/","title":{"rendered":"Good cheese hunting: Day 14, arrival in Warwick"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>In 2007, <a href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.ca\/maps?f=q&amp;source=s_q&amp;hl=en&amp;geocode=&amp;q=Warwick,+QC&amp;sll=49.891235,-97.15369&amp;sspn=44.847503,103.798828&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;hq=&amp;hnear=Warwick,+Arthabaska+Regional+County+Municipality,+Quebec&amp;z=12\">Warwick<\/a> convinced the Quebec government to declare it as la Capitale des fromages fins du Qu\u00e9bec, the Specialty Cheese Capital of Quebec.<em> <\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.festivaldesfromages.qc.ca\/\">Le Festival des Fromages de Warwick<\/a> that starts tomorrow is the 16th version of the huge cheese event that attracts 40,000 to 80,000 visitors, depending upon who is counting.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This evening, it&#8217;s still a small rural community in central Quebec some two hours east of Montreal. The most exciting thing happening is the occasional roar of a hot rod on the main drag, which we overlook from<strong> <\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.champayeur.qc.ca\/\">Gite du Champayeur<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1036\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1036\" style=\"width: 468px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cheeselover.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/px_cl_gch14_pizza_2_fromages1-1.jpg\" data-lightbox=\"gal[1028]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1036\" title=\"px_cl_gch14_pizza_2_fromages\" src=\"https:\/\/cheeselover.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/px_cl_gch14_pizza_2_fromages1-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"468\" height=\"309\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cheeselover.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/px_cl_gch14_pizza_2_fromages1-1.jpg 700w, https:\/\/cheeselover.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/px_cl_gch14_pizza_2_fromages1-1-300x198.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1036\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A delicious baked-to-order pizza\u2014vegetarian except for two cheeses\u2014is our first meal in Warwick.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>At <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lamaisondesfromages.com\/\">La Maison des Fromages<\/a>, a bistro and cheese boutique in the centre of town, we enjoy a thin-crust Pizza B\u00e9nite loaded with pesto, zucchini, tomato, black bean, artichoke and green onion and laced with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fromagesdici.com\/www\/bleu_benedictin_en.asp\">Bleu B<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fromagesdici.com\/www\/bleu_benedictin_en.asp\">\u00e9<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fromagesdici.com\/www\/bleu_benedictin_en.asp\">n\u00e9dictin<\/a> and a mozzarella the waitress said came from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.saputo.ca\/indexEn_cons.asp\">Saputo<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>We look over the exhibitor list: 30 cheesemakers, 14 producers of artisan specialties, eight winemakers, 3 producers of ciders, 1 microbrewer, 1 beekeeper and 2 grocery stores.
